This pair of Centennial armchairs is in the exuberant Chippendale style. These are not your typical factory produced chairs. They are of exceptional quality, design and construction. The crest rails are heavily carved with acanthus leaves and floral rosettes on the ears. The pierced carved center splat continues the same carving themes. The arms are gracefully designed. The chair rests on legs with acanthus leaf carvings and rosettes on the knees ending in boldly carved ball and claw feet. Notice the delicate gadroon carving on the front of the seat between the legs. The slip seats are covered in a lovely fabric with a floral pattern with a central scene of 2 birds of paradise. The fabric is in excellent condition. These chairs retain their original finish which is in excellent condition having a deep, rich color and very desirable patina. The frames are all tight and free of breaks or repairs. 37.5"h X 24.5"w X 20"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1880's.
