This mahogany Empire side cabinet is a hard to find form. These were made to provide additional storage in dining rooms and designed to match the main sideboard. Notice the delicate satinwood line inlay along the edge of the top and on all 4 drawer fronts. The hand dovetailed drawers have their original locks. The brass pulls and key escutcheons are replacements. There are turned half columns on the front and the cabinet stands on boldly carved paw feet. There are a couple of chips on the toes of the feet. If you look closely, there are some older veneer repairs. Amazingly, the cabinet retains its original finish which is in very good condition. The top has some expected wear and stains, but nothing offensive, and they only add to the authenticity of the finish. What a handsome piece that can serve a multitude of purposes. 42"h X 24"w X 22"d, Condition: Very Good, Circa: 1830's.
