Marble top Victorian étagères were designed to display fine art and china. This rosewood étagère comes in 3 pieces; the marble, mirrored top and the base. Notice the dramatic hooded domed top and 4 boldly carved finials. Originally, there most likely had been an additional crest attached to the dome. The tall central mirror is flanked by 2 narrow mirrors and a series of shapely shelves supported by delicately turned columns. Notice the carved scroll and leaves to the side of the mirrors. The étagère retains its original shapely marble which is in excellent condition. The base has a hand dovetailed center drawer with tear drop pulls. Below is a mirrored door which opens to a bird’s eye maple interior and a single shelf. The drawer and door retains their original locks. On either side are open shelving with curved fronts and a pierced carved decorative treatment. Look closely and you will see a piece of 2” trim missing on the very ends above the marble. This is not offensive or obvious but we can arrange to restore if desired. The finish is in excellent condition. 83"h X 56"w X 18"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
