This massive mahogany tall case or grandfather clock was made by the prestigious Herschede Clock Co., Cincinnati, Ohio. The architectural looking case has a peaked roof top with fully turned columns on the sides. The beveled glass door retains its original lock and a key. The brass face has raised numerals and gilded applied pierced brass decoration with delicate chase work. The hands are all original. There is a sweep second hand and dials that allow you to silence or turn off the chimes or strike sounds. Notice the hand painted moon dial with the scene of the men in the small boat. The clock works are all original and in excellent working condition. The clock comes with its winding crank and door key. The clock plays a stanza of the Westminster Chime every quarter hour and strikes every hour. There are 5 original tubes which have a wonderful sound which resonates beautifully. The clock comes with its original 2 brass weights and pendulum. The case is in excellent condition. The finish is also in excellent condition having a rich color and patina. The clock will run for a whole week before needing winding.
