This beautifully rendered hand-worked needlepoint rug is stunning! Its Victorian cottage styling would complement a variety of settings. There are 25 squares with 4 different patterns. Patterns appear to represent the four seasons. One square has a cornucopia filled with fruits and flowers representing fall. A second square is a wreath with a bow and evergreen boughs, flowers and holly, representing winter. Another is a basket filled with flowers and a bird’s nest with eggs setting next to it, representing spring. The fourth square is a floral wreath of roses, morning glories, pansies and more, denoting summer. There is a border of trailing flowers around the rug. The background is a rich plum color. The rug is in excellent condition and the colors are still strong and vibrant. 100"w X 100"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1940's.
