This is a reprint of the Seal of the Confederate States of America and was most likely done in the 1920’s or 30’s. The original cast silver seal was made by the prestigious Joseph S. Wyon, Chief Engraver of Her Majesty Seals, London England. The seal has a fascinating history. The seal depicts the statue of our first president, George Washington riding his steed surrounded by the principle crops of the South, tobacco, cotton, rice, sugar cane, corn and wheat. As noted in this image, these were reproduced with a copywrite of 1911 by Annie Payne Pillow, 1464 Clifton St. N.W. Washington DC. On the back of the print there is a facsimile referring to the authenticity of the earlier reprint. The colors are still vibrant. The print has some staining and foxing along the outside edges of the paper but not on the seal image. The print resides in its original gold frame which is in excellent condition. 26"h X 36"w X 2"d, Condition: Very Good, Circa: 1911.
