This tall gold gilt hall pier mirror is in remarkable condition. Amazingly, the mirror frame retains over 95% of its original gold leafed surface. The mirror comes in 3 separate pieces. There is the base, marble and mirrored section. These mirrors were originally located on stair landings, halls or parlors. Their purpose was to reflect light and brighten a space. On the back, there is a label with stenciled lettering that reads E. Pelman, 624 & 632 Gallow Hill Str., Philadelphia, PA which may have been the original purchaser and delivery address. Notice the boldly designed pierced crest. The original shapely marble is in excellent condition. The base is extremely ornate with applied gilded carvings. The mirror and frame are also in excellent condition. What a statement this will make in any home. 112"h X 38.5"w X 14"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1860-1870's.
