This French Louis XV style bergere armchair is beautifully carved. The shapely back has a pierced carved fruitwood crest with delicately carved birds just above the arms. Notice the deep button tufting on the back and the gently curved arms. Each arm support has a finely carved bird with outstretched wings. The wide shapely seat has a separate down cushion with a delicately carved seat rail. The chair rests on whorl shaped feet. The fabric appears original and is a soft gold or buttery colored tone on tone damask print fabric having winged cherubs and floral bouquets in the design. There is a very small 1.5” tear on the left inside of the arm. The rest of the fabric and the springs are in excellent condition. The wood finish appears to be original and is also in excellent condition. The frame is tight and free of breaks or repairs.
