This figural Victorian silver plated napkin ring is marked Meriden and Company. There is an engraving on the center of the ring but we cannot make out the letters. Notice the delicate decoration along the edge of the ring of stylized flowers and leaves. There is a cast moth or butterfly resting under the ring and a round fan leaning on each side. Notice the decorative base and ball feet. Figural napkin rings were extremely popular in the Victorian era and were cleverly used to identify one’s cloth napkin at the dining table. The silver plating has some very light wear which is to be expected. Otherwise, the napkin ring is in excellent condition. 3"h X 2.25"w X 2.25"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1880's.
