This mahogany revolving bookcase is unusual because of the top 2 shelves. Its design allows the user to turn or revolve the bookcase in order to access from all 4 sides. The top 2 shelves are each 4” tall. This may be used to lay down large oversized books, maps, magazines, etc. The following shelves will accommodate books 11.75”, 11” and 11” tall respectively. The sides are wide slats accented with wooden rosettes or buttons. Look closely and you will see 2 chipped buttons. This is only visible upon close inspection and does not affect the integrity of the bookcase. The bookcase is supported by a wooden pole that swivels and rests on a 4 legged platform. The platform has its original, heavy duty brass casters which makes moving extremely easy. The finish appears original and is in excellent condition. The revolving mechanism works smoothly and effortlessly. 57"h X 24"w X 24"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1890's.
