This cast metal lamp was originally a gas lamp that would have been located on top of a newel post. Such lamps were extremely popular in the Victorian era. The lamp is signed Moreau and has never been electrified. The angel figure has beautiful detailing. Notice the expressive face, delicate feathers on the wings and folds in the fabric, etc. Look closely and you will see that the little finger on one hand is missing. The silver metal finish has some rubs and dullness but is overall in very good condition. This lamp could be easily electrified if desired. 23"h X 5"w X 5"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
