This 3 piece Victorian parlor set consists of a sofa or loveseat and 2 armchairs. The matching set is from the Renaissance Revival period. The sofa measures 62” wide, 24” deep and 42” tall. The armchairs measure 32” wide, 24” deep and 41” tall. The solid walnut frames have a boldly designed pierced carved crest with a center medallion of a different carved figure profile. The backs have inset panels of burled walnut and applied carved rosettes. These are repeated on the graceful arm supports and below the seats. The sofa and chairs rest on boldly turned legs with their casters. The frames are all tight and in excellent condition. They retain their original finish which is also in excellent condition having a rich color and patina. The cream colored tapestry fabric has a tone on tone floral pattern. Notice the deep button tufting on the arms. The fabric is in excellent condition. There are no tears or damage. All the springs in the seats are tight. All three pieces are extremely comfortable, especially the armchairs. It’s extremely unusual to find matching armchairs or gent’s chairs in a parlor set. Usually a set will have only one gents chair and the other a lady’s or armless chair. Even more unusual is to find comfortable Victorian parlor furniture such as this fine set! Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
