This solid mahogany Victorian bedroom set consists of a bed and a dresser. The bed measures 77" tall, 60" wide and 80" deep. The frame will easily accommodate a standard full or double size mattress and box springs. In addition, the bed can be easily adapted to a queen size mattress and box springs. Call or email and we can tell you how. The bed and dresser share the same sweeping lines and deeply carved panels. The carvings are expertly crafted and depict flowers, leaves and scrolling vines. These are not shallow carvings, but rather deep and prominent. There are also highly raised panels, deep mouldings and unusual and ornately carved finials. Even the side rails are embellished with carvings. The dresser measures 82" tall, 52" wide and 23" deep. The beveled mirror is original but has some very light silvering loss. The dresser base has 2 small, velvet lined drawers over 3 long drawers which graduate in size. All the drawer fronts are raised paneled. Check out the intricately cast brass pulls. Look closely and you will see a running deer in the ovals and the bales appear to mimic twigs. All the drawers retain their cast brass key escutcheons and working locks. The finish is excellent on both pieces. There is a 2" blemish on the dresser top but nothing offensive. The bed is extremely sturdy and stout when assembled. What a handsome, extremely well-constructed and unusual bedroom set. Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1880-1890's.
