Here is a hard to find queen size Victorian mahogany bed by the famous cabinet makers John & Joseph Meeks of New York City and New Orleans. It is a rare treat to acquire an oversized bed that will accommodate a queen size mattress and box springs without doing any alterations to the frame. The beds interior dimensions are 67” wide by 79” long. The bed even comes with a brand new mattress and box springs which are still in their plastic coverings. The box springs is in two separate pieces, designed to rest side by side. This is extremely handy when trying to take them up tight staircases. The bed’s headboard measures 62” tall and the footboard is 40.5” tall. The extremely curvaceous headboard prominently displays a deeply carved shell. Notice the delicately carved rosebud finial at each corner of the headboard and footboard. The ends of the headboard have a carved capital and paneled side with delicate mouldings. Now check out the footboard crest with the realistically and life sized carved flowers and leaves. There is a large recessed panel below with intricate, lace looking pierced carvings. The sides of the footboard are gently curved. Notice the dramatic mahogany graining and their expert placement, designed to accentuate their beauty. Even the side-rails are beautifully executed with flowing lines and pierced carvings. This bed is in excellent condition. The finish has the most desirable, rich color. When the bed is set up, it is extremely stout and sturdy.
