This set of four dining chairs is beautifully crafted. Their detail, quality of construction and condition are superb! The chairs appear to be made of maple or cherry. Notice the selective tiger maple graining on the fronts of all the chairs. The cabinet maker chose to highlight this using small delicate bellflower shaped inlays in contrasting dark rosewood. The chair backs have a lovely trefoil shape along the crest rail. The pierced carvings on the chair backs are incredible. There are scrolling vines, acanthus leaves and stylized flowers throughout. The shapely seat is covered in a silk looking printed fabric. The background color is an appealing soft celery green. The fabric is in excellent condition. The chairs have tall, slender, turned and reeded legs. All the chair frames are tight. Their finish is in excellent condition having a rich color and patina. 33.5"h X 19"w X 18"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1890's.
