This wonderful pair of hand painted porcelain plates is signed and dated by the artist A. Baron, 1878. Each depicts a scene of 3 frolicking cherubs or angels. In the one scene, the angels are feeding the fire and enjoying the warmth. In the second plate, they appear to be riding a dolphin amongst ocean waves. The artist expertly painted the faces and bodies using vivid colors. Each plate is framed in a heavy duty cast brass holder with a highly decorative edge. Each has a ring on the back for wall hanging purposes and are marked “France”. The plate of the angels gathered around the fire has a ¾” chip at the top around the rim of the plate. The chip is not very noticeable or not detracting. What a treat to find such a beautiful pair to grace a wall. 13.75"h X 13.75"w X 2"d, Condition: Very Good, Circa: 1878.
