Check out this mahogany Federal period, Sheraton, 2 piece secretary. The desk has wonderful mahogany graining throughout. There is a central flame mahogany pane framed with inlay on the arched crest. Below are horizontal bands of flame mahogany. The 2 glass doors have a very unique and dramatic honey combed grill pattern. Each door has 27 individual panes of glass. The doors retain their original working lock. Inside is a long shelf with 3 separate cubbies and 4 small hand dovetailed drawers for storage. The drawers retain their original brass and glass pulls. The base of the secretary has a slant lid that drops down and is supported by 2 wooden pull out slides. When down, the lid exposes a green felted writing surface. The felt is in very good condition given its age and use. Below are 3 hand dovetailed drawers with dramatic flame mahogany fronts. All the drawers have their original working locks. The brass pulls are older, but period looking replacements. All the drawers open and close smoothly. The secretary rests on boldly turned and reeded feet. The finish may be original and is in excellent condition having a deep, rich color and patina. What a lovely example of Sheraton period, New England furniture. 63"h X 39"w X 18"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1810-1820's.
