This lovely Victorian marble top cabinet is referred to as a credenza or parlor cabinet. The `upper class' Victorian homes always proudly displayed them in their parlors. Notice the unusual, rich color of its original inset marble top. The shapely marble has rich gold and yellow tones throughout. The walnut cabinet is accented with dramatic rosewood concave curved recessed side panels. The hand dovetailed top drawer is also highlighted in rosewood panels and has its original cast brass and tear drop pull. Check out the large recessed paneled door with the exquisite, profuse carvings. The door retains its original working lock and a key. The door opens to reveal a cherry interior having 2 adjustable shelves. The cabinet has canted front corners with additional applied burled panels and carvings. The credenza rests on a platform base. Look carefully and you will see some rosewood veneer loss along the very bottom. This is only noticeable if you get down on your hands and knees to observe. The finish appears original and is in excellent condition. Imagine this in your living room, hall or entryway with a mirror or wall clock above – beautiful! 43.5"h X 45.5"w X 19"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
