This large, heavily carved oak French aneroid barometer with thermometer is in excellent working condition. The wooden frame is carved in a Black Forest style having a cluster of hanging fruit at the top, followed by trailing leaves. One side displays a dead, hanging hare or rabbit and the other a bird. Below is another cluster of fruit with leaves. The carving detail is exceptional. The finish is original and also in excellent condition. There is a brass encased mercury thermometer located at the top. The aneroid barometer has a beveled glass front. The working mechanism is in excellent condition. We have provided a photo of the makers mark located between the words "Barometre" and "Aneroide" on the dial. Unfortunately, we were unable to determine who it represented. 38"h X 18"w X 3.5"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1880's.
