This walnut Victorian hall tree is in the Eastlake style. These are designed to be placed in a hallway or entryway to store hats and umbrellas. Notice the ornately designed crest with pierced and incised carvings surrounding a deeply carved center pad. The original beveled mirror has applied panels of burled walnut above and below with additional decorative incised carvings. There are 4 original cast brass hooks to hold hats and coats. The original marble shelf rests above a single drawer having its original cast brass pull. On either side of the marble are wooden arms to support canes and umbrellas – a common and necessary accessory in those times. Notice the original decorative cast iron drip pans designed to catch moisture from the umbrellas and to take the abuse from the metal tipped canes. The shelf is supported by delicate turned legs. The hall tree retains its original finish which is in excellent condition. The mirror is also in excellent condition. 84"h X 43.5"w X 14"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1870's.
