What a beauty this clock is – and so unique! This Victorian mantel clock was made by the highly regarded Ansonia Clock Co. The case is covered in red velvet and accented with metal castings. Check out the ornately cast winged griffon feet and the original painter's pallet on the front of the case. Look closely and you will see that on the pallet delicate painting of a bird's nest with eggs resting on a branch. Originally, there was a painters brush attached to the pallet, but it is long gone. The velvet is in remarkable condition having a deep burgundy color and soft touch. The gilded brass bezel houses a porcelain dial which is all original to the clock. The 8 day clock retains its original works which are in excellent running condition. The clock strikes out every hour. 16"h X 9"w X 6"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1880's.
