This small round mahogany table has some of the finest carvings and fabulous detailing. Notice the dramatic design on the top using 4 individual pieces of burled mahogany cleverly placed to create a starburst pattern. The top is edged in a delicately carved rope or gadroon design. There is a very slight crack on the top. This does not affect the integrity of the piece and it will not worsen. If you look very closely, the top has a very slight warp. This only seems to add to its charm and pedigree. The turned pedestal base has richly carved acanthus leaves encircling the post and on the knees of the legs. The feet are delicately and crisply carved. The stand rests on its original brass casters. The table's finish appears original and is in excellent condition. Its color is deep and rich and the patina is most desirable. 31"h X 21.25"w X 21.25"d, Condition: Very Good, Circa: 1850-1860's.
