This early Victorian original watercolor is dated 1856 and signed by the artist. The signature is difficult to read. The painting is of a flower filled vase and with a small insect resting on a rose. Amazingly, the white mat trimmed with gold foil is original. Also, the ornate gold gilt frame is also original and retains over 95% of its gilding. If you look closely, there are 2 small areas of loss on the gold frame. What a wonderful example of early Victorian women’s fine art. 23.5"h X 20"w X 2"d, Condition: Very Good, Circa: 1856.
