This is one of the finest rosewood game tables we have owned. The lines, graining and finish congers quiet elegance. The fold over top has an ogee-moulded edge. There are minor scratches to the top from years of use. To use as a gaming table, you spin the top a quarter turn and open to reveal a most wonderful surface. The top reveals a delicate 1.5" raised border. The playing surface is inset with a replaced round leather top, which is tooled in gold leaf. The leather is of the highest quality and is a gray green color. The condition of the leather is excellent. Below is a drawer having its original working lock and key escutcheon. The hand dovetailing is extremely fine and precise. Check out the wood used for the interior of the drawer - a rich satinwood - another sign of high quality cabinet making. The drawer has dividers for playing cards, etc. The tall slender, tapered legs are delicately turned and reeded. The woods chosen for this table represents the finest in rosewood graining - bold and dramatic! The condition of the frame and finish is excellent. The color is rich and inviting. 30.5"h X 36"w X 17.75"d, Condition-Excellent, Circa-1850-1860's.
