This Spanish style writing desk is called a vargueno and is from the early 1900's. The solid walnut frame has a uniquely carved front which drops down to expose a writing surface. The front retains its original working lock with key. There is a small 1” wide piece of carving missing on the lower right front of the door. It is only noticeable upon mentioning and close examination. Inside are 8 cubbies and 2 drawers with carved fronts. The top cabinet measures 36” wide and 9.5” deep. Notice the ornately carved legs and the fancy wrought iron support between the legs. The desk retains its original finish which is in good condition. The top of the desk has some wear as to be expected. What a unique and handsome desk! 42"h X 34"w X 14"d, Condition: Very Good, Circa: 1910.
