This solid rosewood Georgian or Victorian Canterbury is exquisite. The lyre shaped sides and carrying handle are elegantly designed and crafted. There is a drawer with finely executed hand dovetailing with a tiny bone knob. Below is delicately carved ripple molding surrounding the base. The Canterbury rests on turned ball feet having its original brass casters. These were originally designed to hold and transport sheet music by the Earl of Canterbury – hence the name. This has to be the best one we have owned! The finish is a beautiful French polish which is in excellent condition having the richest color and patina. 16"h X 19"w X 14.5"d, Condition: Excellent, Circa: 1850's.
