Here we have, a very nice, Indo Persian steel war helmet.
Great condition, with no dents, cracks, but looks like it may have been repaired on top,
at the base of the spear point, and ground.
May have been dropped and this broken off sometime in its long lifetime.
The three pieces on front are attached by steel rivets, and the long one wobbles a little.
The whole top of the helmet is engraved with flowers, people, and what looks to be lions.
There is a smooth band around the helmet about 2" from the bottom rim,
It measures 18" high with the mesh hanging, and is 8 1/2" wide.
It has a metal mesh around about 2/3 of the rim, which would cover the neck and ears, with a little
on the front.
This is as I got the piece, and on looking it up, it can date back to the 18th century, and through the 19th
century. I figure this is from the late 1800's, seeing that it is steel.
Great patina, as you can see in the photos.
This was brought back from overseas after WWII, and the man has passed, and this came from his estate.
Great piece to add to a helmet collection!!!
