Here we have, a beautiful, Plum opalescent carnival glass tankard, seven piece water set made by Gibson Art Glass, in their Heavy Iris pattern. Originally this pattern was made by Dugan glass in the early 1900's, but the newer items like this set were made later by Fenton, for Singleton Bailey, and then by Gibson Glass. Each piece is marked with the Gibson mark on the bottom, as you can see in the last photo of the tumblers. Light iridescence, showing blue, gold, and purple hues, over the purple opalescence. Great condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Bought from a collection, and it has been in a cabinet for years and never used. The pitcher measures 12 3/4" high, 8" wide from spout to handle, and has a 4 1/4" base. The tumblers measure 5" high, 3 1/4" wide at the top, and have a 2 3/8" base. Lots of opal around the tops of the tumblers, and pitcher, with the pitcher having some down on the Iris flowers. The pitcher goes to almost clear at the base, and back to the plum color on the bottom. Great mold strike, on a beautiful water set! Very nice set to add to a collection!!!
