Here we have, a nice pair of early wool or cotton carders. Made of wood, with a wire brush attached. The brush wires are through a leather pad on both pieces. These were used to either fluff up wool, or cotton, to get it ready to be made into thread on a wheel. They date fro the early 1700's to the late 1800's. Both of these have a stamped manufacturing mark on the top, one is partially readable, and the other you can make out T. S. Watson & Co. on it. They measure 9 3/4" wide with the handle, and the pad is 9" x 4 3/8" wide. Both are in great condition, Very nice pair for a collection of tools!!
