Here we have, a nice, Weller, Louwelsa hand painted 10 1/2" cylinder vase. It is in very good condition, but does have a repair on the top edge. Came out of a local collection! The vase repair was done quite a while back. When I got the piece, and started photographing it, a lot of fine, shiny crazing showed up. It had been sprayed with lacquer, and the lacquer was cracking. I removed the lacquer, and found the repair. It was lacquered to make the piece shiny. When that was done, the repair showed up, and had a white seam where the piece had been glued back in. The coloring on the top edge, where it is dull, is where I did a quick color match, and painted the white seam. If you take the paint off, all that will show is the white glue seam, and some scratches. The original piece was used and the coloring is still there. Just needs a little better touch up. Beautiful piece, even with the repair. It dates to 1896-1924, according to my Weller book. It measures 10 1/2" high, 2 1/4" wide at the top, and has a 4" base. Great piece for a Weller collection! Displays nicely!!
