An 1847 Engraving of the Falls of Tryberger ( Black Forest ) beautifully framed in a period gold gilt wood frame with a black mat. The lettering reads H. Bibby, pinx, on the lower left, A. H. Payne, sc. on the right, and below the title, London: Brain & Payne, 12, Paternoster Row.
This German Scene of waterfalls, figures, trees and mountains is from Payne's Universum or Pictorial World being a collection of Engravings of Views in All Countries, Portraits of Great Men, and Specimens of Works of Art, of All Ages and of Every Character, it was edited by Charles Edwards and published by Joseph Rickerby in1847.
The exposed plate measures approximately four and one half by eight and one half inches with the overall framed piece measuring eight and one half by twelve and one half inches. Beautiful antique frame and matting in excellent condition, some very light scattered foxing on engraving, but overall very good antique condition. Removal of the old backing and adding an archival mat is recommended.
