Royal Hickman Paris Ware Tan with burgundy Petty Crystal Glaze long neck Oil Jar Vase circa the 1930's. Measuring eight inches tall by seven inches wide this beautiful art pottery piece is from his Paris, Tennessee Studio. It is marked with his name, the number 502, and U.S.A. on the bottom. There are no cracks, chips, normal crazing. The design is indicative of Hickman and perfect for a collector. First as a metal sculptor and potter in California, then on to Illinois, Royal Hickman worked for Haeger until 1944, but continued to contribute additional designs to the firm during the 1950s on a freelance basis. He operated studio art potteries, in Tennessee and Florida in the 30's, 40's and 50's. Hickman also designed crystal animal figurines for the Heisey Glass Company.
