A circa 1940's Royal Hickman amazing gray with white Petty Crystal Something from Under the Sea Vase. This one maybe from his Paris Tennessee Studio. Measuring eight inches tall, this vase has a free form with coral like shapes at the base. There are no repairs, chips, cracks and only normal crazing. The design is indicative of Hickman and perfect for a tropical decor or collector.
First as a metal sculptor and potter in California, then on to Illinois, Royal Hickman worked for Haeger until 1944, but continued to contribute additional designs to the firm during the 1950s on a freelance basis. He operated studio art potteries, in Tennessee and Florida in the 40's and 50's. Hickman also designed crystal animal figurines for the Heisey Glass Company.
From the Estate of Florida Artist Roddy Reed.
