Late 1930's to early 1940's Royal Hickman Chartreuse Green Bow Vase. This beautiful art pottery piece maybe from his Tennessee Studio, it is not marked, but it is style number 459 on the bottom. Measuring nearly eleven inches tall, this mid century find is in excellent to near mint vintage condition. There are no cracks, chips, or crazing. The design is indicative of Hickman and perfect for any decor or collector.
First as a metal sculptor and potter in California, then on to Illinois, Royal Hickman worked for Haeger until 1944, but continued to contribute additional designs to the firm during the 1950s on a freelance basis. He operated studio art potteries, in Tennessee and Florida in the 40's and 50's. Hickman also designed crystal animal figurines for the Heisey Glass Company.
