This is a wonderful windup toy phonograph from the 1920's that was made in Germany and plays the small 5" diameter 78 records (6" in English made records). As with most children's toys from this period, they are decorated with vibrant graphics taken from popular poems and fairy tales of the time, and this one is exceptional in the quality and condition. It's quite simple to assemble and operate; just insert the iron bracket into the arm support on the side of the machine, and then insert a needle into the hold at the end of the diaphragm, key wind the spring motor, and then place a record on the turntable. Once ready then just move the control lever on the side of the machine from 0 down until the revolutions are such that you can hear the record clearly; once played then slide the lever up to 0 to stop it. Please note that there is no volume control on these little phonographs! The phonograph measures 6 1/2" in diameter and is 3" in height, excluding the horn. It comes with a 5" Mimosa Record with the songs "Parade of Wooden Soldiers" and "Union Jack Medley", and a 6" Mimosa record with the songs "Hilarity" and "I Want a Pie with a Plum in It".
