This exquisite pair of vases dates from the mid to late 19th century and is European, most probably French or German made. There is a model number incised in the bottom of each vase, along with a hand written "46", which in most cases indicates the artist who did the painted details. There are several things that are really special about this pair, one being the hexagonal shape and the other being the decorative panels that are framed in black and gold. The floral and fauna motifs of the panels are definitely exotic in nature and most likely of an Asian or Chinese nature. In addition to these beautifully painted details, there are very fine gilt ormolu mounts crowning the top of each vase as well as the base. The vases measure 7 1/4" in height, 4 3/4" in diameter at the widest point, and 3" in diameter at the base. This is a very special pair of vases which will enhance any fine interior!
