Here's another beautiful little lacquer box from Russia. It comes from the village of Kholui, whose artists often depict scenes from their own village which is surrounded by the river Teza which often floods in the springtime giving a special kind of "light" to the area, which they lovingly depict in many of their pieces. This particular box is decorated with an assortment of buildings and churches with stars in the sky and the river flowing below. It is titled "Around the Corner" and is signed by the artist "Ulia Zenovia' along with "Kholui", the place of origin. The little box measures 1" in height, 1 1/2" in width, and 1 1/8" in depth. In fine condition, it will be a charming addition to any collection!
