This brilliant little lacquer box comes from the village of Kholui in Russia, where the artists are known for their exceptional detail to nature and people. The scene depicted on this particular box is from the Russian fairy tale known as "Konok Garbunok" the humpbacked Pony" which is indicated in the script at the bottom border of the box. If you purchase this piece I will send the complete story along with the box. It is also signed by the artist, "Stepanova" and dates from the 1980's. In pristine condition, it measures 1" in height, 1 1/4" in width, and 1 5/8" in depth. A real treasure!
