Satsuma style Rabbit vase
Here is an unusual ceramic rabbit vase that has been decorated in the Moriage style typical of Satsuma pieces, although I don't think this is a Satsuma since the majority of the decoration is simply painted on, rather than layered. The majority of Japanese ceramic pieces made between 1921 and 1941 were stamped on the bottom with either "Japan" or "Made in Japan"; this particular piece was most likely made during that period, as you can see from the stamp, which also includes "Hand Painted". I am not an expert on Japanese ceramics, and was not able to find any information on the mark, so if you are and can add to the description, that would be much appreciated! The rabbit measures 7" in length, 3 1/2" in width, and is 4 1/2" in height, and is in beautiful condition!
