The first is an early (1860/70) Celluloid case in a rich amber color; unlike the later Bakelite plastic, Celluloid is much lighter and thinner. The second is a chrome plated case from the 30's/40's. Notice the size difference between the two indicating the increase in volume over the years. The Celluloid case measures just 3 1/2" by 1 3/4" by 1 1/4" high and is in excellent condition, while the Chrome case is 3 3/4" by 2 1/2" by 1 1/2" high and is in good condition with a few worn spots.
