Here is a rarely seen tin match box/safe that was made in England by the Bryant & May Company. Their name is located on the top right of the cover, while on the opposite side is listed "Royal Wax Vestas"; also note the striker on the back side of the box. It is decorated in the Aesthetic style which was introduced into Europe at the time by writers, and subsequently by artists and decorators; the emphasis was a return to the beauty of nature with an oriental flare. This little match box is a genuine piece of history that comes from the moment that the great Aesthetic Movement began! It measures 6 1/4" in width; 1 3/4" in depth; and 1" in height. and is in beautiful condition considering its' age.
