This unique inkwell dates around 1890/1900 and is made of cast iron with an oxidized finish which was a "new" popular finish for many metal products including lamps, phonographs, etc. The design of the horse and horseshoe was also an extremely popular motif at the time, representing "good luck" and also featured on many personal items such as picture frames and watch holders. The dimensions of this piece are 4 1/2" in width, 4 1/2" in depth, and 3" in height. In good condition and with the original glass insert for the ink.
