During the late 19th to early 20th centuries, many souvenir pieces were made in Germany for export to the United States. This particular example shows the "United States Post Office, Kearney, Nebraska stenciled on the front side with hand decorated gilt borders. Pieces like this were often used as trinket holders for various things such as keys, chains, coins, pencils, etc. Aside from a very fine hairline crack/chip, which is very old, it is in beautiful condition and has never been glued, etc.; it measures 5" in height, 5 1/2" in width, and 2 1/2" in depth (front to back). Hey, you Kearney-ites, here's an antique souvenir for you!
