This beautiful Chinoiserie style tin box comes from Holland and dates around 1920; please note that I have another similar tin listed which is smaller in size. Like the other one, this too has the four sides and lid decorated with Chinese motifs, including birds, grapes, flowers, fans, and lanterns on a gold background with black frames. The lid has a solid brass handle and a latch on the front side, while the inside is plain white metal. Although this tin does not have the embossed label on the bottom (some had paper labels which often didn't last), it is from the Glim factory in Rotterdam, which was a chemical company that also made glycerin soap, for which these tins were made for as a container and a display in the shops. This tin measures 12 1/2" by 7 1/2" and is 6 1/4" in height; it is in beautiful condition with no loss or cracks. This stunning piece will make a great addition to any collection!
