This charming piece dates around 1900 and was made in Germany. The use of a "hand" holding the actual box is in keeping with the very popular "hand vases" of that period. As you can see, it has a fleshy tone next to the white of the cuff, while the box, has hand painted details in green, orange, and blue with a gilt knob at the top of the cover. This is such a good example of the Bavarian China trinket boxes of the time, which were used to hold just about everything from rings to things! It measures 4 1/2" by 3" and stands 3 1/2" in height, and is in really good condition. A unique and unusual piece!
