This decorative plate comes from Dresden, Germany by the artist Richard Klemm, who had a studio from 1869 to 1916; I would date this plate around 1880-1900. Note the mark on the back indicating his initials with a crown above them; it was in the 1880's that he registered this mark under the name of "Klemm Dresden Crown". The gold leaf blank below is what he used to cover over the mark made by the manufacturer of the blanks that he used to decorate, in most cases it was Meissen Porcelain. All details of each panel are hand painted bordered by gilt scrolls and the plate is in fine condition, measuring 6 1/4" in diameter. A beautiful piece of artistry!
