Here is a delightful fan from the Victorian Era, which advertises the famous Bingham Hotel in Philadelphia. The fine quality paper is imprinted with a photo of the hotel including a partial street scene with horse and buggy and people going to and fro; the name of the hotel is shown just below. Surrounding this are floral and scenic decorations in color, along with a beautiful running leaf pattern above and plain border below, both in black with gilt highlights. The sticks are finished in white enamel and decorated with gilt floral patterns and butterflies; the original metal loop and silk tassel are still intact. In fine condition with normal wear, the fan measures 9" in length and 16" fully opened. A great piece for the collector of advertisements or fans!
