Offered are four very vintage issues of People's Home Journal. These are all from the month of April for the years 1917, 1923, 1925, 1927. The Journal was primarily a vehicle for short stories, some fashion designs and general interest articles. The covers are in color by experienced illustrators. There are also full color ads on the back covers. The 1917 issue has a young girl with curly brown locks. The pre 1920 issues typically had Cream of Wheat ads on the reverse. This ad is one of the more famous ones with the maid chasing the child with Rastus in the background. The back cover is a Grape Nuts ad with reverse a Gold Dust ad. The cover has some staining, the ads are in good vintage shape. The older magazines measured 11 1/2 x 16 1/2 and is 34 pages long. The 1923 issue is woman carrying a lit birthday cake, the back is Grape Nuts and behind that National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) (now we know how Nabisco got its name--an abbreviation of the full name). 1925 is of a little girl blowing bubbles. Fairy Soap is the back ad. The 1927 issue has little girl holding a rabbit. It has smudging. The back cover is torn. There is a nice colorful Jell-O ad inside amongst others. The later issues are 14 1/2 x 10 1/2. Original listing price $20 Item 9376j Lot 4/1/8
