LAST CALL! 35% OFF! Offered is a simply lovely example of a turn of the century necessary bag, drawstring style. The crochet is a neutral ecru, but the lining is a butter tone yellow which shows through the spaces of the crochet. These small bags were not meant as fashion statements as much as they were functional. For instance, they might be used for sewing supplies. Glancing through vintage needlework magazines of the '10's-'30's will reveal many available patterns for similar bags. The satin liner is in very good condition, possibly a replacement as sometimes the bags were lined in silk, which did not survive time and use. The crochet stitches are quite nice--the bottom is a pointed scallop with a zig zag stitch. The center band is in diamond stitch. The drawstring is formed by yellow ribbon woven through the spaces and tied in bows at each side. The bag is 12 3/4" long and 8 1/2" wide. We found no stains and no holes. Item 74177b. Lot L8/1/7
