LAST CALL! 30% OFF! Offered is a wonderful vintage hat from the Edwardian era of extravagant hats. The attention grabber is the 19 1/2" wide swag of pretty pink and fuchsia millinery flowers that extend from side to side across the front. The body of the hat is in velvet in a grayed sage green. The juncture between brim and crown is banded with a browned plum silk ribbon forming a bow in the back. A large gauge cranberry color veil swoops from side to side (we are not sure it is supposed to swoop--perhaps it should be tacked to the brim). The underside of the brim is lined in a beige crepe which we are almost certain is a replacement. The crown is lined in a gathered black muslin type fabric typical of the time period. Details: 4" brim; 3 1/2" tall; 9 x7" oval crown; 23 1/2" inner circumference; 15 1/2" wingspan. PLEASE NOTE: this hat actually qualifies as an antique as it is or is approaching 100 years old. Hence, there are some issues. We are describing the color as a gray sage green, we suspect that the original color would be a true green and that the velvet has faded over time. The velvet is showing signs of age, one will find variations in color and some wear, especially at seams. The discolorations may appear as small splotches. The greater issue, however, is with the silk ribbon band. As is common with aging silk, it is shredding as we speak. It is extremely fragile and undoubtedly will shred more during shipping. One may want to replace this band. The veil does have a 2" hole on the left side front, not immediately evident because of folding of the veil. Item 6477a
